February 14, 2008 - Annaleigh Ashford was born in 1985 in the state of Colorado. Her original birthname was Annaleigh Swanson. She is best known for her roles in Wicked and the MTV televised version of Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Ashford received her a big theatre break when she won the coveted role of Glinda for Broadway's national musical tour, Wicked. From there she went on to play Margot in Legally Blonde: The Musical. Aside from that role, she was also the understudy for the character of Elle Woods. Unfortunately, Legally Blonde tickets did not sell as well Wicked tickets did, so MTV chose to promote the musical by airing it as a special.
Ashford replaced the former Glinda in Wicked, Kendra Kassebaum and will continue on with the role until the summer of 2008. Past work includes a staged reading for Jack O'Brien, the Tony Award-winning director of Hairspray. (Hairspray tickets are still available! Get them today!)
Ashford's future plans include but are not limited to working on the musical adaptation of Catch Me If You Can where she will play Brenda Strong.
Recently, news outlets have announced that Ashford will have a small role in film version of Sex and the City: The Movie.
